Simbudevan has given us full-length comedy films Imsai arasan 23rd Pulikesi and Arai en 305 il kadavul and now his latest offering is Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singham which is a complete cowboy movie.Raghava Lawrence, Padmapriya, Lakshmi Roy, Saikumar, Elavarasu, Vaiapuri etc team up for this movie.
Some interesting tidbits on Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam:
For the film “Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singham” a huge crew of actors have learnt horse riding professionally. Lawrance, Lakhmirai, Saikumar, Elavarasu, Vaiapuri and chams would go to the beach in the morning for practice horse riding. Lakhmirai alone has practiced during breaks and is able to ride beautifully now.
Cowboy is an ancient culture of North America. This would be a Tamil film created in Mexico. This story happens in the 18th century, so in “Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singham” there is no one wearing saree, even the Junior artist’s. They have used gown type dresses. This would be a film without dhotis and sarees.
More than for shooting the unit spent more time for searching locations. Since they wanted a mix of westernised and Indianised location, search was made throughout India when there is a mix of western as well as Indian culture. Some matching locations were found near Andhra Raichur, Mothanur, Bangalore, Pune, Nagpur, palaghat, Ambasamuthiram, Pondicherry and other places and shooting was carried out in these locations.
Shooting took place where no one has shot so far near to the debris of Vijayanagar kingdom kandikottai and kandi cannal . A dam is 300 kms and the team had rented a boat and travelled 20kms through the river to reach the other end of the river bank. The river was 30ft deep and the scenes were shot with artists standing on a boat made of raw wooden planks which was risky. Shooting even took place in the rave bat caves even with the stink in the caves.
90% of the film is shot inside the set Art director of Mr.Muthuraj who’s recent hit is Pazhassi Raja. Ace Cameraman from Kerala Mr.Alzagappan has filmed the Tamil cowboy movie. Music is by G.V.Prakash songs by Vairamuthu and editing is by Mr.Rajamuhamed who is the national award winning editor for the movie Parathiveenan. The Audio release is next month.
Kalpathi.S. Aghoram of AGS entertainment who produced hit films like Thirutupayale, Santosh Subramaniam and Masilamani is producing this film on a big scale.
For the director Mr.Chimbudevan this is the 3rd film after Imsai Arasan 23rd pulikesi and Araien 305 il Kadavul, this film would also be a fantasy comedy and for the audience this film would be of a different experience.
