What is Microsoft's Xbox 360 Kinect?
No Controllers. Just you.
Kinect brings games and entertainment to life in extraordinary new ways, with full body play. Arms, legs, feet, and hands, with Kinect there are no controllers, just you. It’s so natural, so intuitive that technology evaporates, letting the natural magic in all of us shine through. All you need to do is jump in.*
Microsoft's Kinect is a three-camera system that plugs into Xbox and allows for hands-free games and controlling the console with voice commands. The platform, if it works well, takes gamers a step beyond Nintendo's Wii.
Easy to use and instantly fun, Kinect gets everyone off the couch. Want to join a friend in the fun? Simply jump in.
Kinect works with your Xbox 360 to bring you extraordinary entertainment experiences. Kinect's unique sensor and specially designed games transform full body movement into game play. And the great news is Kinect works with every Xbox 360 console.**
Microsoft would not say how much Kinect -- which plugs into Xboxes and lets players control games with body and hand gestures -- will sell for, though analysts' estimates range from $50 to $200.
Microsoft has announced that Kinect for Xbox 360 will launch on 4th November "starting in North America". According to the press release that accompanied the news, "Kinect will roll out to the rest of the world thereafter."
The new Xbox 360 250GB has already gone on sale in U.S. and is available for $299. The older Xbox 360 is also on sale for $199 but may get an update. We hope the new console arrives in India soon.
