Kochi: AB de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 54 as Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 6 wickets in the third match of IPL-4 at Kochi on Saturday.
Earlier, Mayank Aggarwal fell after a solid partnership with de Villiers as Kochi Tuskers fought back in their clash against Royal Challengers.Vinay Kumar trapped Virat Kohli leg before wicket at a crucial time for Kochi after the latter along with Aggarwal took the attack to the opposition.
Local boy S Sreesanth got Kochi Tuskers their first wicket when Tillakratne Dilshan was brilliantly caught by Brendon McCullum as Royal Challengers Bangalore went about their chase of 162 for victory.
Openers Brendon Mc Cullum and VVS Laxman added 80 runs in nine overs as the Kochi Tuskers ended their innings with a healthy total of 161/5.
Daniel Vettori got the wicket of his opposite number Mahela Jayawardene to turn the tide in Bangalore's favour.
Part-time bowler Virat Kohli got the all important wicket of Brendon McCullum as Kochi Tuskers lost their second wicket after VVS Laxman was sent back by Dilshan.
McCullum and Laxman brought up the Kochi Tusker's fifty in the sixth over after their captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to bat first.
While Kochi made their debut in the Indian Premier League, the Royal Challengers lost to Mumbai Indians in the last four stage of IPL-3.
