It's celebration time in Tamil cinema as host of film personalities who contested the Assembly elections managed to win the polls and march to the Legislative Assembly.
Noted actress and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa emerged winner with a huge margin from Srei Rangam and is all set to form the Ministry in Tamilnadu. Actor and DMDK supremo Vijayakanth who contested from Rishivandhiyam as part of the AIADMK combine won it big. So was his party candidates - actor Arun Pandiyan and producer Michael Rayappan.
Addressing media persons, Vijayakanth said, ' it is a great victory for our combine. People have thrown out the DMK. I thank one and all. Its a victory for democracy'
Interestingly, All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi president and Nadigar Sangam chief Sarath Kumar, who contested on behalf of the AIADMK alliance from Thenkasi emerged thriumphant. Popular baddie onscreen Mansooralikhan who contested independently from Alandur was defeated. He managed just 600 votes.
With the film industry divided on their support to the DMK and the AIADMK, the news of the landslide victory for the AIADMK has given joy for many in Kollywood.
