Barbados: Rain played spoilsport on day two of the second Test between West Indies and India as only 25.3 overs were bowled throughout the day at the Kensington Oval on Wednesday.
When play was finally abandoned for the rest of the day, West Indies were 98/5 - still trailing India by 103 runs - with Shivnarine Chanderpaul (20) and Marlon Samuels (21) at the crease.
The day began 45 minutes late due to a sharp morning shower but the heavy cloud cover and the windy conditions only helped the visitors' pace bowlers, who troubled the hosts' batsmen when the match eventually began.
But despite the precision and pace of Indian bowlers, both the overnight not out batsmen - Ramnaresh Sarwan and night-watchman Devendra Bishoo - stood their ground for the initial half an hour's play.
However, Sarwan survived a couple of shouts, while Bishoo edged quite a few of Ishant Sharma deliveries through the slip region.
A disciplined Ishant final brought India the breakthrough they were looking for as the Indian speedster got the wickets of both Sarwan and Bishoo in the same over.
Bishoo (13), clearly perturbed by the pace and bounce of the lanky pacer, couldn't hold onto a rising delivery and was caught in the gully by Kohli.
Sharma struck again on the last ball of that over when he trapped Sarwan (18) in front for the second time in the series.
Sharma got the reward for the consistent line and length he maintained throughout the morning session. Praveen Kumar, who was equally impressive with his swing, could have also registered a few wickets to his name had the ball touched the batsmen's bat on the numerous nervous prods.
India reduced West Indies to 82/5 at lunch with Chanderpaul (12) and Samuels (15) at the crease.
The two batsmen started their innings on a confident note after lunch until the rain once again interrupted day's proceedings, forcing abandonment of the day's play.
