Rouseau, Dominica: Harbhajan Singh snapped up his 400th Test wicket and Ishant Sharma took 5/77 as India took control of the third and final Test against the West Indies in yet another rain marred day at Dominica, Rouseau on Thursday.
At stumps on day two, India were 8/0 with openers Abhinav Mukund (6) and Murali Vijay (1) at the crease after a downpour just after tea prevented any further play with the visitors trailing the hosts by just 196 runs with all 10 wickets intact.
Earlier, play was once again delayed by over an hour on the second day because of poor weather.
Carrying on from their overnight score of 75/3 after a rain curtailed opening day of the Test, the Windies got off to a disappointing start when veteran batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul departed early as he edged a Munaf Patel delivery into the gloves of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Chanderpaul made 23 and put on 49 runs for the fourth wicket with Darren Bravo.
The hosts soon lost their fifth wicket when Marlon Samuels chopped on a widish delivery from Kumar on to his stumps after making just nine runs.
Bravo along with wicketkeeper Baugh then put on 29 runs for the sixth wicket to stem the rot for the home team in yet another truncated session on the second day.
Sharma got the all important wicket of Bravo after lunch who was out for exactly 50 off 134 balls to leave the hosts six down.
Harbhajan then had Windies captain Darren Sammy caught at forward short leg by Abhimanyu Mithun for 20 and followed it up with the wicket of Baugh for for a well made 60 off 79 balls to take his 400th Test wicket as India took charge of the post lunch session.
An injudicious pull shot by West Indian tailender Fidel Edwards reduced the hosts to 204/9 before leg spinner Devendra Bishoo dragged one on without opening his account to give Sharma his fifth wicket of the innings.
Earlier on a rain affected first day of the Test, Bravo (22) and Chanderpaul (17) were the two not-out batsmen overnight after they rescued the West Indies from 35/3 with an undefeated 40-run partnership.
