South Indian actress Nithya Menen flew in the cockpit of Air-India ‘s Bangalore-Hyderabad flight on June 14. Two star-struck pilots S Kiran and Jagan M Reddy allowed the actress to sit in the observer’s seat in the cockpit!
As per flying rules the cockpit seat is reserved for those pilots who come in as examiners and anyone authorised by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in the country.
Both the Air India pilots have been suspended, after a senor bureaucrat who was on the same flight registered a complaint. The DGCA is now probing the "flagrant violation" of safety norms.
DGCA chief Arun Mishra told PTI."We are examining the issue. Air India management has sent a report to the (Civil Aviation) Ministry. They have acted as per the operations manual.”
Meanwhile Nithya Menen could not be contacted as she was busy shooting for her Tamil film Malini 22 Palayamkottai in Hyderabad.
