Just as Maryan is making its presence felt at theatres starting today, we present you with the screen counts of the movie from some of the key markets in the country.
In Tamil Nadu, the film has opened in 350 to 400 screens. Though the pre-release publicity has been low key, early reviews have been really encouraging and the movie is expected to have a good opening weekend.
The Kerala rights of Maryan have been purchased for an amount of 65 lakhs by Sagara Entertainment. The publicity through posters has again been low profile and the movie has released in 79 screens.
Some leading multiplexes in cities like Mumbai and Delhi have also allotted a few shows for Maryan, probably to cash in on Dhanush’s popularity and visibility in the North, post the success of Raanjhanaa.
Maryan hasn’t been released in Andhra Pradesh while Karnataka has seen a big release all over. Totally 50 screens all over Karnataka are screening Maryan with 39 screens coming in Bangalore, 3 in Mysore, 2 in Mangalore & the rest in other areas of the state.
Most of the leading multiplexes in Bangalore have allotted 3-4 shows in a day for the weekend & they might increase it after the response over the weekend. The response to the advanced booking through online ticketing sites has not been very high but there are hopes that they may pick up over the weekend after the word of mouth spreads about the film.
The publicity & promotions in the form of paper ads & posters has been less, as the makers wanted the film to have a low profile before the release.
Maryan has also been released in prominent overseas markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, USA and UK.
With such a wide release, we have to see how the box-office responds. We will keep you posted as always.
